Our Tenants

If you answer YES to the questions below and you would like to apply for a unit, please call into our Office. You may print or fill in our pre-tenancy application form online but your application will not be processed until we meet you in person.

Are you:

A New Zealand citizen, or permanent resident of New Zealand over 55 years old?

Do you:

Receive NZ Superannuation?

or

Receive a benefit for a permanent disability?

Are your:

Assets insufficient to secure appropriate housing in the private market while maintaining financial stability and wellbeing?

MCT’s asset threshold is designed to support people with modest savings while ensuring our housing is available to those who need it most.

As a general guide, we prioritise applications from people with total combined assets of less than $80,000. This may include cash, KiwiSaver, investments, property, or other high-value assets.

We recognise that everyone’s situation is different. MCT may consider applications where assets are above this guideline where those assets do not provide a realistic ability to secure or sustain suitable housing in the private market.

Our Conditions

You will have to provide references from two previous landlords, and must be able to live independently and manage activities of daily living, such as:

  • living safely on your own

  • paying rent and meeting the expenses of keeping a unit i.e. electricity, telephone, lawn and garden care costs etc.

  • cooking, cleaning, personal care, and managing regular rubbish disposal

  • carrying out the requirements of the tenancy agreement

  • controlling visitors to the premises

You must visit our Office at 1/100 Awahuri Road, Feilding, and fill out a Pre-tenancy Application Form.

What Should I Know About the Application Process?

If there isn’t a suitable unit available, you may be placed on a waiting list.

Our process includes reference and other checks. We reserve the right to decline applications.

Our units may be allocated on a needs-basis, not on a first in, first served basis.
