Our Housing Developments

Manawanui Complex

Manawatū Community Trust’s affordable housing development on Prince Street, Feilding commenced in July 2025.

Royal Treatment for the Prince Street site

Manawatū Community Trust’s affordable housing building programme reignited in July 2025, with the start of construction of a new housing complex in Prince Street, Feilding.

The complex, named Manawanui by the whānau who sold the land to MCT in 2020, will be built on a 943-square-metre section and feature four two-bedroom units - one duplex and two stand-alone homes. Prioritising low maintenance and practicality, each 68-square-metre home will be constructed from brick, fitted with double-glazed aluminium windows, and topped with long-run roofing. These homes are designed to fully comply with Healthy Homes and H1 Energy Efficiency Standards, and will incorporate best-practice industry guidelines, including accessibility and crime prevention through environmental design.

Two bedrooms units are new among the MCT’s housing stock and when considering tenants for the Manawanui Complex preference will be given to people that need the second bedroom, such as tenants requiring a professional overnight carer, or two eligible tenants wanting to share accommodation.

Local building contractor Colspec Construction Ltd will carry out the build, with completion anticipated in early 2026. Funding for the $1.6 million project is supported by Impact Investment financing and a grant, both provided by Central Energy Trust.

Once the Manawanui Complex is complete, attention will shift to another housing development on Beattie Street in Feilding. Corrick Court will comprise twelve units; two two-bedroom homes and ten one-bedroom homes.

MCT has also diversified its community property portfolio by developing two custom-built healthcare facilities on Duke Street in 2016 and 2022, ensuring fit-for-purpose premises to attract and retain general practice and allied health services in Feilding.

These new housing projects mark MCT’s renewed commitment to their primary goal -providing safe, healthy, and affordable homes to help ease accommodation pressure for the region’s growing population.

Corrick Court

We have recently submitted plans to Council to build a further ten one bedroom, and two double bedroom flats in Feilding. The cul-de-sac of units, will be accessible off Beatie Street and will be known as Corrick Court.

Why is the development called Corrick Court?

Mr Gerald ‘Ged’ Corrick was a Feilding Borough Councillor in 1962 and in 1968 became Feilding’s Mayor. He achieved a lot during his 18 years of civic leadership, including the development of the region’s water and sewage schemes, a new library, the opening of the Makino Pool, and the building of 100 pensioner flats. Ownership of 100 of these flats was transferred to the Trust from MDC in June of 2008.
