Our Future Housing Developments

Manawanui Complex

Manawatū Community Trust’s affordable housing building programme reignited July 2025, with the start of construction of new housing complex in Prince Street, Feilding.

The complex has been named Manawanui by the whanau that MCT purchased the land from in 2020. The 943 square metre site joins onto our Puriri Complex and will accommodate four two-bedroom units, one a duplex, the other two will be stand-alone. With low maintenance and practicality in mind, the 68 square metre homes are of brick construction, with double glazed aluminum windows, and long-run roofing. They will fully comply with Healthy Homes and H1 Energy Efficiency Standards and incorporate best practice industry standards to address accessibility and crime prevention. The complex has been named Manawanui by the whanau that MCT purchased the land from in 2020.  The complex has been named Manawanui by the whanau that MCT purchased the land from in 2020.

Two bedrooms units are new among the MCT’s housing stock and when considering tenants for the Manawanui Complex preference will be given to people that need the second bedroom, such as tenants requiring a paid overnight carer, or two eligible tenants wanting to share accommodation.

Funding for the $1.6m project has been assisted by Impact Investment financing and a grant both provided by Central Energy Trust. Local building contractor Colspec Construction Ltd are completing the build with an expected completion date of mid 2026.

Corrick Court

We have recently submitted plans to Council to build a further ten one bedroom, and two double bedroom flats in Feilding. The cul-de-sac of units, will be accessible off Beatie Street and will be known as Corrick Court.

Why is the development called Corrick Court?

Mr Gerald ‘Ged’ Corrick was a Feilding Borough Councillor in 1962 and in 1968 became Feilding’s Mayor. He achieved a lot during his 18 years of civic leadership, including the development of the region’s water and sewage schemes, a new library, the opening of the Makino Pool, and the building of 100 pensioner flats. Ownership of 100 of these flats was transferred to the Trust from MDC in June of 2008.
